Eric was raised and lived in Cambridge (Galt) for 20 years.

His first career was in aviation as a licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer where he was exposed to the strong methodical work ethic required to find, fix and fix it right a range of aircraft systems. This career exposed him to electrical, hydraulic, power plant, structures and environmental systems which required him to assimilate technical information quickly and accurately and be able to communicate this information to a wide range of clients. From passengers to power plant and structural/systems engineers he was able to assess information and make system and safety critical decisions that resulted in an unsurpassed safety and maintenance record for the clients he worked with.

This career exposed him to small single engine aircraft, World War 2 Vintage aircraft and modern executive and passenger jet aircraft. It also offered him travel to Northern Quebec and the Maritimes. He also started his first successful venture – Careplane: an aircraft washing, waxing and detailing company.

Eric has worked for the Waterloo-Wellington Flight Centre, Canadian Warplane Heritage, Wardair, and Waterloo Aero based at the Region of Waterloo International Airport.

In the late 1980s, during his time at Waterloo Aero he moved back to the Waterloo Region were he settled in Waterloo and became an active member of the Chicopee Ski Club Adult Racing Program. He was a committee member and his passion for ski racing led him to achieve his Canadian Ski Coaches Federation Level I certification. At Chicopee he coached Hershey Alpine (13 – 18 year olds), Adult House League and Adult Southern Ontario Division ski teams. He learned he had a passion for teaching and leading and this experience led to many great memories. More importantly, it set the tone for his need to contribute and help people.

From this experience Eric decided to return to his education. Having achieved great results while at while at Centennial College completing his 1 year diploma program and apprenticeship in aircraft maintenance he found he needed to continually learn and be challenged.

Then moving from aviation to university he made the transition for one type of knowledge worker to another. After surveying several Arts courses a focus on Political Science became his new passion and he applied and was accepted for Political Science – Coop, Honours.

Balancing a social life, school, and applying for all the coop positions was challenging and fun and his first work-term led him back into aviation working for Aircraft Services, Transport Canada in Ottawa. During his work-term (and while he had his home built and moved to Kitchener) he volunteered at the Canadian Aviation Museum as an guide. This gave him the opportunity to share his love and knowledge for aviation with museum patrons of all ages, cultures and nationalities.

This experience garnered him an Exceptional Rating which changed everything. From being a coop neophyte during his first work-term experience scrambling to get noticed among all the potential candidates he was interviewed for over 10 positions and was selected first choice in 4. Having a desire to combine his interest in information technology and sales he accepted a position at Lexmark Canada as a dealer sales representative. This experience was an amazing opportunity to work with a Fortune 500 company and contribute to the burgeoning personal computer printer market. The experience growing the Southwestern Ontario dealer network led to his next full-time career at Lexmark.

Eric has over a decade of experience as a computer user and technology consultant. He worked for Lexmark Canada Inc. as an account manager and was wholly responsible for the sales and support of some of the most advanced computer printers in the industry for the southwestern Ontario region. He has assisted in computer and printing solutions for Fortune 500 companies to small business enterprises. During his tenure at Lexmark he became a Microsoft Windows NT Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and was a Sales and Support Systems Engineer for Lexmark supporting the region’s sales force.He is passionate about technology and sees every day how frustrated users are with accessing their computer technology. Believing strongly in not only solving these problems but empowering his customers so that their comfort level and knowledge makes them better PC users. He is committed to making computing accessible.
