As was indicated in an email sent to my clients AVG 7.5 support is ending and the replacement software is AVG 8.x. Click on More for the Service Bulletin.

The program file is available here.

The manual is available here.

The instructions are available here.

Dear client,
Effective May 31, 2008 AVG by Grisoft is not supporting AVG (Antivirus Guard 7.5). This does not mean you are without virus protection but it does mean that there will be no more virus definitions available.
Affects
Current AVG 7.5 clients.
Does not apply to clients using Norton/Panda/other antivirus software from ISP or purchased from other third party.
Action Required
Client needs to update software using free version or by purchasing it.
Timeframe
Urgent: Within the next 3 weeks.
Time Required to Install
Purchase and install: 30 minutes estimated. Credit card required.
Free Install: Current download takes over 30 minutes. Installation and configuration estimated at 15 minutes.
Cost
Varies…
Free is time and effort plus addition of email footer to email programs.
Licensed Paid Copy:
1 Computer: $59.99 1 year subscription, $87.99 for 2 year sub.
2 Computer: $70.99 1 year subscription, $106.99 for 2 year sub.
3 Computer: $81.99 1 year subscription, $122.99 for 2 year sub.
What to Do
1. Download the free AVG Version 8.x from
http://www.download.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10320142.html?cdlPid=10834624
This is the most current free version. As with the previous version the “cost” incurred by the user is the level of protection is not as wide and deep as the commercial version you pay for and if you use an email program like Outlook Express/Live or Outlook you will have a footer attached to the bottom of the email.
NOTE: At time of writing this email CNET had 79,558,286 downloads for this program so EXPECT slow downloads and possibly connection issues for a while.
2. Buy the program
http://www.grisoft.com/ww.product-avg-internet-security?fprd=ais.12m
The software is quite reasonable in cost and if you have more than one computer you can buy subscriptions for up to 10 computers. A client downloads the software after payment and registration and receives a software key in their email for product activation.
If you need any assistance or clarification please contact me. Once I get the program installed I will be posting a blog entry for your reference.

Hi. Do we have to uninstall the previous version of AVG, or will AVG 8.0 automatically remove it?
Thanks!

Upon further reading of your very informative site, I have found my answer. Thanks!
